Summary: Great action let down by graphics & repetition Comment: My favourite game on the PS3 at the moment. The graphics are great... when the textures eventually load up, which seems to be a frequent problem. Gameplay is addcitive and fun, though it does get repetitive after a while. Don't expect to play this for days on end. Would I buy this again? For £15: definitely! Customer Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, but far from perfect Comment: I can kind of understand all of the gushing reviews for this game. There is something about it that is enjoyable, and fundamentally playable. But it is far from perfect. Although subjective, it feels like a hybrid of a number of games. In my opinion: * Gun combat is like GTA4. * Climbing, running and jumping is similar to Assassin's Creed, but much less free-form and slightly dumbed down. (There is a "tower climb" moment that is almost identical to the tower climbs in AC). * Level-puzzle style of Tomb Raider, but again slightly dumbed down. The plot is fun, but hardly cerebral; its action-film-esque (there are occasional interactive cut-scenes such as jumping off cliffs as they crumble beneath you) though it does lose itself in the middle. Voice acting is good, and there is a layer of warm humour, showing that the game doesn't take itself too seriously. However... it is essentially a glorified platform game. Puzzles get no more complicated than finding a key to unlock a door, and the location of the key hardly requires a Mastermind champion. There are only so many ways level progression can be slowed down in this way, and it does quickly become samey. On the plus side, the developers clearly realised this, and implemented a number of small set-pieces which work very well, e.g. riding up rapids on a jet ski, or shooting quad-bikes from the back of a jeep. Although short, they distractions give the game enough momentum to keep you interested. Combat is definitely a weak point of the game. The camera doesn't help, but essentially it's no more complicated than finding cover, and occasionally popping out to shoot. There is virtually no challenge, and it is a little dull. Enemies take an age to drop, unless you score a headshot. It's frustrating that the most effective weapon in the game is the default pistol. Again, the developers probably realised this and introduced a "trophy" system which rewards different aspects of the game, such as kills with various guns. The rewards are genuinely interesting, such as the ability to render the game in different styles. It's quite unique. Visuals are great, but not as mind-blowing as some of the reviews on here may suggest. I certainly hope this is not the visual peak of the PS3, and trailers for games such as Resident Evil 5 would suggest it definitely isn't. All in all, it's an enjoyable 10-15 hours. But there is definitely a promise of more to come. Naughty Dog has shown itself to be a company that has put a lot of thought into the game, and it shows. However the game ultimately lacks any real depth, and replay value is relatively limited. Customer Rating: Summary: ITS GREAT FUN! AND I LOVE IT!!!! Comment: I bought this game because of the great reviews that it had and im defo glad i did!! Starts a bit slow but once it does get going its amazing, i couldn't put the controller down!! Love the simple gameplay, graphics, action, puzzles, shootem up battles (can become slightly long),plot and story-line. To be honest, i cant think of any bad points with this game so far...even though im only about half way through it :0) Im sooo pleased that i bought this game and if you are in any doubt then dont be because you wont be disapointed! Buy it now!!!!!!!! Customer Rating: Summary: If you don't have a ps3, buy one to play this game! Comment: I won't bore you wring the same things as all the other reviews over again, but put simply this is a truly brilliant game! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it is quite liner. Still a must have! Customer Rating: Summary: A Top Quality Adventure Comment: Uncharted is, in the main, a cover based over the shoulder shooter; however Naughty Dog have crammed in some platforming elements, vehicle sections and a few puzzles. These are all provided within an Indiana Jones style adventure story, with some of the best graphics seen on PS3. And it's the story that will propel you forward; the voice acting here is far better than the norm for a videogame, and the characters are genuinely likeable. The gameplay is tight and well paced, with the shooting sections broken up at just the right moment by the platforming and puzzle solving. The game has also recently been patched to support the new PS3 trophy system which adds a great deal of replayability. The only faults with this title is that it is very linear, providing little oppurtunity for exploration; and the quick time events attached to some cut scenes seem tacked on and badly executed. These are minor niggles though, you'd be crazy not to own this if you have a PS3; especially at the reduced price.
