Right, just been test fitting these bolts I had made up and seems they're too long, the mount needs to be flush tight against the block obviously. Question is then, is it safe to put some nuts, washers or whatever I can find on the non threaded end of the bolt to make it so?

And yes I do believe its on upside down here

Hi Phil i would try and get some tubular bar to fit over the bolts,no reason why that shouldn't be strong enough :th:

Anyhoo, I managed it, like this, bit wobbly though so thats why its being supported by the small bench for the time being. I've just realised the bloody thing is on wrong still :ranting1:

Quick peek inside revealed this. The engine did have a bit of a sideways brown pants moment and oil started pouring out of here so might acccount for the slightly darker colour ? Anyhoo, still looks fine to me :)

I've heard from Tony today, he said with a bit of luck you should have yours back by then Mick. I'm going to be doing the work myself, might start another seoperate thread on it when I get around to it.

Your/ slash my idea worked fine Mick :) just a bit wobbly due to it being on wrong but its holding, might weld up some sort of cradle for it just to be sure, might be on there a while.

So whats the consensus on V6 flywheels and associated bolts? Will a modded 3SGE flywheel go the distance? Of course I'd like to 'future proof' it and get it as good as can be whilst I have the chance but, a new flywheel is awfully expensive, for me anyway. Any input on what to do would be much apprreciated.

Local motor factors said £98 for a full headgasket set so that could be that sorted and, still need to think about the clutch and pay Tony for the engine mount.

Few pics from this evening, the engine how it stands. look at at all that junk and those big ugly brackets that come off these things. Just need to finish removing the heads and we're off. I don't have the appropriate service tool to reomve the cam pulleys so any ideas? Is it safe to get a wrence on the hexagon shaped bit of the cams so that holds them and then crack the pulley nut loose? I'm just worried it slips and damages them.

Mate, when I was doing the tubby lump all those years ago, I found one of these invaluable for getting the pulleys off :th: Remove the nut and use this to get it off ;)
