Introduction of a hopefully future buyer

Post by Migou » 09/06/17 12:15

Hello everyone,

I am Miguel, 28, French but living in the UK, in Oxford.
I scanned the forum and the website in general, find it amazing, tones of information.
So as the title says, I would like to buy an MR2.
The MK2 is the one I want, with T-bar and best would be turbo but I could do without. And rev 2 or more.
I don't have a definite colour preference, just not black :D

I have owned a Mazda rx8 for almost 2 years now, and it's a real pleasure to drive. But I fancy a change and have always liked the MR2 a lot, hence my choice.

So I will keep discovering the forum and keep you updated on my purchase :D

See ya

Me and my dad love going I've been over 10 times between the 24 hours and the classic and keep going back time and time again. I'd highly recommend it if you've never been before. We're going out Wednesday and may do some exploring in the loire valley on the Thursday however we'll be coming home after the race on the Sunday evening on this occasion.

We're planning to do a bigger trip at some point when we can possibly get down to Italy through France but who knows. Would love to do a European road trip.

Most people on here may never have heard of it, but one of the most exciting French circuits was their version of the Nürburgring: the 8km Charade (aka Circuit Louis Rosier) in the Auvergne near Clermont-Ferrand - http://theracingline.net/racingcircuits ... story.html

Here's a vid of the very first race -

Won by Innes Ireland in a Lotus 11.*

It was at that circuit in the 1972 French Grand Prix that Helmut Marko (the head of Red Bull's driver development programme) was blinded in his left eye by a rock thrown up from Fittipaldi's Lotus. A major contributing factor was his open face helmet.

The same race saw Chris Amon set the lap record in a V12 Matra at 103.61mph. Quite mind boggling considering the number of corners and the lack of straights.

The section of the old circuit from Courbe de Manson to Carrefour de Champeaux can still be driven as it's a public road.

* @ Woody. Do you recall the Lotus which was parked the other side of the Project 7 F Type next to T2 at Breakfast Club? :)

Thank you :)

so far I'm mostly waiting to sell my RX8, but still looking at adverts for mr2 :D
it could get a bit more complicated as the guy I car share to work with is leaving so I have to use my car everyday, so I won't be able to be without a car for too long.

Tony I didn't know this place, looks fantastic

I have one guy really interested in my RX8 and who seems trustful, so my baby could go away soon ( :crybaby: )

So I am checking more actively and I am planning to contact the people for those 2 :
first
Looks nice and Turbo which is a plus for me, just it's decat, and I don't want to change the pipe everytime I go for MOT. So if I take it maybe I would consider an after market exhaust. I also have to check the service history :)

second
This one has a nice body kit (as I see it at least), but like the first one, I have to see the history of the car. The good thing is that there is a 2 weeks return policy.

What do you guys think?
(maybe I should post that in another section?)

By the way, you can see my RX8 here
