Re the first one. There should be no smoke whatsoever with a 'new' turbo. It suggests:

Either the intake tract hasn't been cleaned out (why not?) which is sloppy workmanship.
Or the 'new' turbo hasn't been reconditioned, or even at all, so you're taking something of a risk.

What would concern me is if the named specialist has done that job. If so, I would save the train fare to Yorkshire tbh.

Re the second one. The power figure quoted (192) makes no sense at all: too high for an n/a and too low for turbo. If it's an n/a the price is somewhat steep: if it's a turbo then it's a converted UK car.

Some info about the seller:
Until 2 years ago he used to be a salesman at a ship chandlers (check his LinkedIn profile).
The limited company has only been in existence since October last year.
His partner is the boss of MS Supercars (see the signs on the wall in the pics) at the same address.

I may be way off base but I'll hazard a guess that it's a trade in and neither of them know much about MR2s.

tony thanks for the feedback, good to know for the smoke, as for the second I was also wondering for the 192bhp.
Anyway I keep looking :D and keep reading here to know more about the MR2 :D

Yes I did, and as I want an mk2 t-bar, I had a look at the 10th anniversary which is for sale here.
just the owner says that he has owned the car for 2 years and mentions things done during his ownership with dates from 2012 to 2014, so seems that it was actually the previous owner, anyway, I should contact him for more information, cause it seems that the car has been well looked after, just some rust appearing, and color a bit fainting on the wing and the bonnet.

Thanks anyway for all your suggestions guys :D

The first one - making excuses for smoke 'due to oil in the intercooler' - I wouldn't be going anywhere near that one. Second one, well, its just a n/a that someone has customised to their 'taste'

There's a nice mostly original white hard top turbo rev3 in Cambridge, asking decent money - thats one of the nicer ones around at the moment that are mid to lower price range. Its on gumtree.

thanks for this further comment, indeed I may have been too optimistic on those
as for the one in cambridge, it's a nice one but I look for a T-bar one, turbo is a bonus :)

also I am discussing with notroubleclubber who is thinking of selling his joy :
see here

and he has an exhaustive topic on imoc about his work on it since he've got it
I will see it on Tuesday, to have a better opinion.

so there is this one on pistonheads
Pretty standard, seems in good condition, but not a lot of information, so I have to contact the seller.

this one on autotrader
Also looks good and same owner for a while but would also need to contact the seller for further details

also, due to a wrong timing I won't view notroubleclubber's car today.

This sort of thing has been on my bucket list for years now

When I had a bit more wedge I kept saying I was going to take the EVO (650bhp) fully caged etc a tour down through France, Spain, Italy and back but due to other stuff it never happened.

I am determined once I have the engine I want and the MR2 setup how I want this will happen.

Hopefully next year.
Well those are my principles, and if you don't like them... I have others.

A child of 5 could understand this! Quick, send for a child of 5!

Wow so you know perfectly the place and athmosphere there then !!
yeah I have to make a trip to Le Mans or Le Mans Classique, maybe next year, and maybe our MR2 will meet :D if I do get one of course

great idea the Loire valley, loads of beautiful Chateaux there :)
Been too many times and will keep going back :D

I'm planning on being at the Classic next year in our 240Z all being well. Let me know if you decide to make the trip down. Always happy to bump in to other members.

We got to a Chateau in Breze in the end with an 18 meter moat and cave system that was really cool for a change so can't complain.

* @ Woody. Do you recall the Lotus which was parked the other side of the Project 7 F Type next to T2 at Breakfast Club? :)
I do indeed, it was to the right of yours in the paddock if I was facing your car. I was also amused to have bumped back into you on the way home :)

It depends what you're after, the red one looks like a lot of money for an earlier car however it all depends on condition. I'd ideally be looking for a rev 3 onwards car myself due to the improvements made.

The good wood green one also has some interesting wheels and lexus rear lights however both are interchangeable and may even be to your taste so I will say no more. A good inspection first hand is always the best option imo.

haha the lexus lights I don't like them, but as the owner was giving the original ones along that was fine.
If the condition is good I could consider a rev 2, but that's true that the rev3 had got nice improvements
