2zz-ge - 2003 Mr2 For Sale £3250

Popular For Sale

GBP 3,250.00

Hey all. Long time since I last posted and it’s also a post that I thought I would never do. I’m selling my 2zz Mr2 as I moved to New Zealand 5 years ago. I kept the car at my parent’s house for when I pop back every now and then (twice in the last 5 years). They are moving house in the next year and won’t have space at their new place to keep it so reluctantly here she is for sale.

It’s a 2003 with 77,000 on the clock. I bought it in April 2012 with 54,000 on the clock. In June 2013 I did the 2zz swap with 66,000 on the clock. Black mohair roof in good condition with no leaks. Red leather inside, Toyota floor mats, spare space saver present, 3 keys – 2 remote and one master key. Loads of paperwork/MOT certs/mileage on them (the car has done less than 5000 miles in the last 5 years). The only mods to the interior are the aerial up and down function wired up to a switch and the gauge pod in the center of the dash.

Last year I put new calipers on all 4 corners and new handbrake cables on both sides. The hand brake works like a dream ?. All the parts came from Mr2ben over near Chester to the tune of £625 with invoice to prove. All tires have got loads of tread, the two fronts I put on last august and only used for 10 days.

The 2zz swap was done with a 2001 Celica engine. I bought the whole Celica as a right off with 72000 on the clock and stripped it. I used the Monkey Wrench Racing plug&play wiring adapter loom and the engine mount bracket. The Exhaust is the full PPE system from manifold to tail pipe, no cheap ebay bits or cut and welded manifolds, it sounds great and sings when you hit lift (lift bolts were swapped before I put the engine in the Mr2)! It also has the PPE high flow CAT to keep the MOT center happy. I used the Celica 6 speed and put the Mr2 limited slip diff in it. It has ball bearing shifter bushing too so shifts gears lovely. Suspension wise it’s on Tein fully adjustable coilovers. I can’t remember what model number they go by, but they were the ‘fast road’ variant they made. A bit more forgiving than the harder spring rating on the track version. The induction kit was made up of Elise parts MAF housing and ASH hoses/filter.

Bad bits are the paint work on the bumper has flaked in a couple of places due to stone chips and there’s the odd small scuff here and there. The alloy wheels have started to look a bit tired too, not from curbing but from stone chips and brake dust. The ECU is a US one so it throws a P0450 code, This is just the ECU looking for a sensor that the Euro/JDM cars don’t have. No issues come from this and it doesn’t affect the car at all. Just the light is on. I have the controller to turn the light back off if it suits you, but I just got used to it. Search P0450 on here for more info on it.

All in all its my pride and joy, I wouldn’t be selling it if I had somewhere to keep it while I’m living in New Zealand. It’d make a great car to some one that wants to modify the outside, prep it for track, use as a daily driver or weekend runner. I planned to keep this car for a long time so didn’t skimp on cheap parts when I did the conversion. No rush to sell so not really open to offers. Any questions just ask. Ill check on here regularly or email pete.helliwell@sky.com.

I will MOT it in the next few days too.
