Haha, sorry folks.....
Pic has been deleted.... I wasnt aware that you would all be greeting by my lycra covered pecans
If it is still there, I do apologise.... I promise I've erased it.....
Anyway, looks like we're all starting to ramp things up now.... Vinny now has a rather tasty road weapon and a few of us seem to be taking on half century charity rides as part of our training.... I have one this Sunday at 50 miles and Dom has one in a few weeks at 56....
Fundraising is starting to pick up as word gets out. Our total is slowly climbing.... Every little helps though guys

Just training here, from a first ride that hurt of only 10 miles to doing over 30 miles a couple of times a week now. Not bad for just over a month of effort. All on a 11.5kg 20 year old mountain bike with road tyres.

Are you using Strava? We have a group set up on there with everyone on so we can all see how each other are doing

11.5kg is light!
I have a cube SL hardtail ie super light and weighs more than that!
Will be easier on a road bike though.
Good effort mind, first couple weeks are the hardest, in all honesty I feel unfit and no go after 1 week of not cycling

Re: MR2OC Way Of The Roses Macmillan Cycle Challenge - May 2
OK, thought I'd better give you guys a bit of an update....
Alan now has managed to grab himself a bike so he's off the mark. He's gradually working through the painful process of setting it up at the moment but he's getting there
Both Dom and myself have now completed half century rides, both for different charity fundraisers locally.
Unfortunately the ride managed to kill my bike but I got the news today that all is now good again. I basically destroyed the bearings in the bottom bracket
Tom continues to show us all up
I've now signed up to an 86 mile event in Northamptonshire at the end of the month as an attempt to increase my maximum distance. Looks like I may have the company of Dom and Vinny as well so we'll see how that goes.....
That's it really. We're all trying to get the miles in when we can.
Fundraising is going OK, it's still early days though.... If you can spare anything for this great cause, please click on the link and make a donation

Re: MR2OC Way Of The Roses Macmillan Cycle Challenge - May 2
Morning guys - Just an update on how we are doing
Yesterday I took on my first 85 mile event. What an eye opener that was. Made me realise that this is not going to be a walk in the park and I've got a fair way to go yet before I'm ready for this task. That said, looking at the positive, I've now managed the equivalent of day 1
Dom was supposed to join me however thin tyres, a roundabout and a diesel spill equals a bit of a thud. One bruised ankle later and that ruled him out.
That said, it looks like 5 of us are attempting another 65 mile sportive on the 19th November. It'll be the first time we are all going out as a group as well.
We're gettign there, it's hard work mind.
Don't forget to sponsor us though - it's all for Macmillan at the end of the day

Hard work is an understatement mate. Furthest Alan, Dave and myself have done is 26miles and we all felt like we'd been raped by a very well endowed old chap

I said before... It'll be the saddle-sore that gets you.. Believe it or not, I got over this by going for a firmer saddle. You have to push through it though.
AND .... an absolute must in my eyes is the slot in the saddle. It lessens the pressure on the vein that supplies your old chap. Importantly, it dramatically lessens the possibility of erectile dysfunction.

Re: MR2OC Way Of The Roses Macmillan Cycle Challenge - May 2
Got exactly that on my Felt Dan, the new Cube has a solid saddle.... Guess what my next purchase is?
I've been looking at the more upmarket Prologo ones as the Kappa on the Felt is fantastic but the build isn't the best (buy budget, get budget)
I believe the erectile dysfunction bit is a myth though.... That said, can't hurt to be safe
Completely agree with you otherwise though

First couple of rides on the solid Boardman saddle left my old fella feeling numb. Wasn't risking it any more than that.
