The driveshafts and pretty much anything around that area is getting the same treatment

Sat in the spare wheel well listening for the coy knock from the steering that only ever seems to be present when I'm not searching for it/showing other people leading my mum and the local garage to probably think I'm going crazy.

Buggered up respraying an alloy wheel, meaning I'm going to have to start again. 're painted the caliper and scrubbed all the rust and crap of the metal suspension parts I could see, before putting the rust stuff on that if spilled, turns your hands black. Also cleaned and sprayed stock exhaust with high heat resistant paint. I was hoping for a shiny silver look but ended up with a light Matt grey. I did not read the can. I actually quite like it. Oh and bought and fitted a new k and n cone filter.

Today I have mostly been cursing the design of it in a vain attempt to disguise my school boy engineering error that caused the slave cylinder to explode when clearly it was my fault for bolting on in the wrong hole (hangs head in shame, the way a dog does when found alone in a room full of torn up pillows)

Tomorrow is a new day though!

Fitted a new oil pressure sender to the sandwich adapter plate. Not a fun job as its between the dipstick pipe and the thermostat housing with just enough room to get an 18mm stubby spanner to it.

It was an Auto Guage / VDO type sender of 3 to 160 Ohms, made in Taiwan. It has lasted 10 years so I suppose thats not bad for $25 considering its just inches from the 3" Downpipe that radiates enough heat to start melting the plastic screw terminals on it.

Took the old one apart with an angle grinder. It was full of oil so the seal had eventually failed. Probably not heat as its screws into an alloy sandwich plate. I guess its all over the place from 20psi at idle to 70psi at 3500rpm to even 100psi cold so eventually that tiny piston seal is going to go.

http://www.jonvy.co.nz/index.php?route= ... ct_id=4749

Would be interested if anyone has found a better quality sender but the resistance is quite specific.

Easy to test the guage in the cabin, just put a 150 Ohm resistor on it and it reads full scale or short the gauge wire to earth and it reads zero psi.

Back to 22psi of hot oil pressure at idle now on 10W-60 so its probably been crook for a while.
