Looking for recent gearbox tightening mod post...

I've looked everywhere but can't find this post.

As far as I can remember it was a few days ago, the OP had posted about a part in the engine bay on the air filter side involving the gear linkage.

He had simply turned a part in the linkage round 180 degrees as the original side was worn and turning it round helped tighten up the shifting/linkage.

Sorry I cannot be more specific.

Its the cube part of the gear linkage. It wears down so its less cube like so twisting it around tightens it up - or at least its something like that.....ive never done it myself.

Simply remove gear linkage arm and brass cube will come loose. Rotate it 90deg and te-install.

Generally this is done when changing out OEM cable bushes to spherical bearings. Can also use a roller bearing to replace square cube.

you see where the black arm meets the silver one, there is a shiny square there.. this is the part.

undo the 2 bolts that hold the upper arm to the gearbox, turn this part round 90*, put upper arm back on properly. job done.

while you're at it... BRD do some lovely poly bushings for the shift cables ends also, look them up on facebook.
all the shifting goodness you can get... without a box rebuild that is.

This is a pic of the square bush which can be rotated 90deg.

Brass cubes x 2 are on the gearbox at the end of the gear change cables area above the drive shafts.

There is only one cube. Can usually just rotate it around 90deg to a clean face unless this has been done before and its worn out. Unlikely, but possible.
