That’s absolutely fantastic.
So glad to find the history on the car.
Don’t suppose you took any photos of the conversion and of the car when you owned it?
If you do please email them to me at apdevelopments@hotmail.com

I’ve got loads of pictures, probably too many to email. Better to put them on a CD and post. If you want to PM me your address I’ll sort that for you? Nigel

Hi guys.
Well I’ve finally managed to get to look at me mr2 V6.
The private plate has finally come off so I have been able to tax it.
The sun was shining so I’d thought I’d take it for a quick spin.
Roof off of course.
I had not actually driven it till today. I was only a passenger as I wasn’t insured during the test drive.
My first impression ohh. What a little beauty.
For a 20 year old car it certainly does not drive like one. The ride is smooth and glides over the bumps. Probably because it’s standard. I’m only used to mr2’s slammed to the floor with coil overs.
Brings back some proper memories. When I had a 280 brooklands ford Capri.
Lovely low down torque. Pulls well in every gear.
Me personally I don’t like turbo engines. All that lag before it comes to life.
What’s amazing about this particular car is that it’s really quiet.
That’s until you bury the throttle and you get that induction roar.
Oh wow. What a sound.
It’s pretty quick to. To be honest it’s not far off me mates 3.5 lotus evora.
That torque just keeps on coming. Doesn’t matter if your 2k rpm of 5k it’s still coming.
You don’t need to scream the ti ts out of it to get any power it’s always there in any gear.
Now I know why it’s such a popular conversion.
Turns the mr2 into a real sports car. Toyota should have actually manufactured it like this.
Can’t wait to drive it to work daily.

Now while I was giving her a clean I noticed this weird extra pipe under the front bonnet.
You obviously have the heater input pipe and then the return. 2 air con pipes.
And then this strange 3rd pipe. Photo of it below.
Any ideas what’s this was for?

The metal heater pipe has been bypassed.
Usually done because that pipe was leaking somewhere. Most bypass it with a long heater hose as a lot simpler than repairing.

The hose on the left is aftermarket, another give away is the non oem clamp you can see on it.

That’s correct. The standard metal pipe at the back was leaking when I got the car. The pipe runs from the back engine heater pipe through the undertrays and up into the front to connect to the heater matrix. Tight run as not much space under the trays when you have the A/C pipes as well.

Hi guys.
Whilst looking at different mr2’s with V6 engines fitted.
Some have a different air intake setup to mine
The one in the 1st photo is what most I’ve seen with a big solid aluminium air intake thingy. My mr2 turbo had one. Red arrow pointing to what I’m in about.
My mr2 V6 does not have this and only has a simple plastic pipe.
What’s the difference between the two?

Why is this then? Is it just a later engine?
Is there any performance differences between them?

Time for a update.
Today was a eventful day for me and the lambo.
She’s finally gone off to Rogue motorsport to have her Lotus 3.5 V6 transplant. (Toyota 2GRFE)
As before I used the same car transport company to take it from my house in Maidenhead to Rogues.
This car transport company is used to dealing with supercars everyday so mine is treated in the same way.
As the weather is just rubbish at the moment the company cover the car over so it gets there just as clean as when it left.
So she’s finally there so Rogue can get cracking with the surgery.
The lambos partly stripped with the engine cover, bat wings, rear cover and rear grills making life easier for rogues to get access.
They have already been busy assembling my engine. Apparently it’s come all the way from America.
We all love some American muscle.
So I won’t see the lambo now till March.
I’m not to bothered about not having it till then as it’s winter and would be locked away till April anyways.
Last photo is one engine they have completed so mine will be similar. :yahoo:
I’ve asked Rogue to send me photos of her progress so I will update here as I get the info.

Ps. If having a Lotus evora (Toyota 2GRFE) engine fitted in my lambo is going to perform any way like my Camry V6 mr2 I’m going to be well happy. But I’m told by Rogue that I haven’t seen anything yet!
