Yay, the Ratagan pass* and Glenelg-Kylerhea ferry. :th:
Always wanted to go that way but it hasn't worked out in previous years. I'll be right behind you.

For those who may also be tempted be aware that the maximum capacity is 6 cars at a time.
See pic here - http://skyeferry.co.uk/

It's a very short crossing so not long to wait on arrival if the ferry is on the other side.
Unless you have negotiated a discount, the above mentioned website shows the single fare as £15.
If that seems steep for a few minutes on the water then it's worth it imo to preserve such a unique vessel.

From talking to people on PH the feedback is that the ferry crew can cope OK with low slung chariots.
Provided the driver is on the ball of course.

* If the weather is good, a pause for the view across to the 5 Sisters of Kintail is a must.

The ferry is not your usual CalMac 'cram 'em in/get them on/off as fast as possible' corporate operation.
It's run by and for the local community. The crew are likely to take more care over your p&j.

Will likewise await further feedback, but I'm surprised to see that Ripley reckons Lui is too low.
I reckon an Aventador front lip is lower than a Mk3 MR2.

I would have thought it's just a matter of getting the angle right when embarking/disembarking.

The ferry is not merely unique in its design either. It has fully paid up canine crew members. :)

That's Nak jumping off and heading up the slipway.

It’s more the side skirts I worry about. The road it is for us. Peter should come back and tell you what “low” might be a problem. Not sure if he’s crossed on it before.

EDIT > I’ve emailed the ferry folk to ask if there will be a problem for low slung cars. I’ll post the reply when I receive it :th:

Just watching those "normal" cars coming off the ferry in the video, they were very close to the road at one point.

I dont think I would make that in my car.

I have used this ferry many times without a problem, twice in my auto mk2 mr2 4 times in the turbo (lowered 35mm drop, and twice in the mk3 on the last crossing there was a Aston Martin and he got on without incident :) .The ferry guys are really good just follow there instructions.

Reply from the ferry folks.

Hi
We have carried many classic cars and low slung vehicles before. The crew are able to guide each car on with skill and the utmost care.
We look forward to seeing you when you get to us. If you are able to give an approximate time, that would be useful for the crew, so that they are ready for you.

I'll give it a go, glad I've put the ralliart suspension on and not the lowered Bilstein stuff I had previously :p

i'll just go with the flow, and by the look of the current in the video so will we all :)
Reminds me of the crossing at Ballachulish before they built the bridge.
