Highland drive 2019........end of an era!

Post by Ripley »

Sadly Peter and myself will be stepping down from organising future Highland drives.
For those of you who have been on any of the drives it’s been a pleasure to share with you the roads and scenery Scotland has to offer. Many members returned year after year and we’d like to thank you all for your support of this event but mostly for your friendship, cameraderie, fun and games.
We’ve have had a blast, we hope you have too. :th:

Hopefully someone from the club will come forward to take over the reigns of this much loved event. In the meantime it only remains for us to thank you, to thank the Morefield Motel who really pushed the boat out for us when we stayed there, to Bob for all his help with the pool tournament and behind the scenes organising and to wish our friends a safe journey home.

All the best
Peter and Ann

:crybaby: I'd be lieing if I said I wasn't disapointed....

Tony first told me about this just after I joined the club in 2013 and badgered me for years with help from both the Bingham's before I finally decided to come along in 2017. As you know by the time I finally joined in, I absolutely loved it and enjoyed it just as much the year after when I went again.

Thank you all for putting in the hard work, organising and leading the days out. Fanstatic times, great memories and life long friends. I completely understand why you'd want to step back and relax, fingers crossed that it'll continue under the leadership of someone else :th:

You have all definately earned it :clapping:
Thanks again for the various times we attended and the countless time that youv'e spend organising and perfecting this classic event, not to mention being the Lead car - which I soon learned isnt as easy as you all make it look as I was rubbish at it!

Hopefully it will continue but whoever takes it on has HUGE shoes to fill lol

:crybaby: but sure we will still see you Bob / Peter over the years as we all intend to come back up as small groups or on our own to explore the stunning countryside.

Sad news indeed.

Thanks to you all for your hard work over the years and I do hope something will continue in some shape or form in the future.

Many thanks for all the effort you have put into organising these events and for giving me the opportunity of honing my skills on your fantastic roads. I am now confident I have moved up the scale from been a crap driver to been a crap driver that goes a bit faster. :) :yahoo:
Hope we will see you at other drives & meets in the future. :clapping: :clapping:
Will just have to get the front bumper another respray now!

The two drives I've been on have been great. Thanks for organising everything and hope to see you in the future. Andy

I can only echo what others have already posted. Massive respect for all your dedication over the years.
Epic roads and scenery plus great craic. What more can any proper petrolhead want?

I fully understand the desire to call it a day.
I did the same at the end of 2018 after 11 years of organising the annual series of Kent Runs.
These are now continuing under new management.
Hopefully the HD will do likewise and we will see your names on the attendees list.
If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room!
