Water in T-VIS and Exhaust
We've recently discovered that there is water present in the T-VIS and Exhaust, what could the problem be if anyone knows? Thanks everyone

Re: Water in T-VIS and Exhaust
I think there is a gasket between the throttle body and intake manifold that if it leaks could potentially lead to water getting into the intake and tvis system. unsure about exhaust unless its just pushing it through from the intake.

Re: Water in T-VIS and Exhaust
If you mean the intake with the T-VIS label on it then that's not the T-VIS, it's just the intake plenum. (T-VIS is an acronym for Toyota Variable Intake System ie its not single component )
Water in the inlet could be getting in via the AAV (Auxiliary Air Valve) which is mounted under the throttle body and is water heated, if you look underneath it you see 2 water pipes feeding it, the internal gasket may have gone.
You can see the pipes in this pic (ignore all the emissions pipework, you won't have that, pic is of a US spec car)

Where are you getting water in the exhaust? If its dripping out the tail pipe then it could well just be condensation a by-product of combustion from the engine running, it's pretty common to see water dripping from the tail pipe especially when the engine is cold.

Oh okay thank you for getting back to me, you too Martin. We'll check those pipes which go into the plenum. Also I was thinking the same thing for the exhaust, may be just condensation... hopefullyjimi wrote: ↑18/09/18 22:16 If you mean the intake with the T-VIS label on it then that's not the T-VIS, it's just the intake plenum. Re: Water in T-VIS and Exhaust
The AAV bolts onto the throttle body from below, not sure what gaskets there are but it's about the only place where you could get water into the intake.

Re: Water in T-VIS and Exhaust
I disconnected the water hoses that feed the tvis and that seems to have cured the problem, thanks for the help
