Re: MR2 MK1 MODS
I'm certainly no expert, but I'd say a new set of alloys... I'm not a fan of the original teardrops myself
Nice Mk1 though! and in the best colour

i like this thread giving me ideas, im going for the standard look with suttle mods, like mk3 alloys would look standard in a way if u get my drift. i want it to look like it arrived from factory in that state. Hard look i know.

Jimi do you actually drive your car, or do you just keep it in bubble wrap and bring it out whenever someone mentions photos?

The SINGLE best modification in my view is fitting a set of good-quality lightweight 15" wheels with good-quality (Goodyear Eagle F1, Toyo Proxes T1-R, Uniroyal Rainsport etc) 195/50/15 tyres on.
Then making sure the suspension alignment is done is a fundamental step also.
Cosmetically a black roof, Plumley spoiler and Papal vent are all winners in my book. Supercharger (USDM 1987+) rear lights look the business too. Why not have a crack at some DIY Low-Rise Quads?!
An aftermarket steering wheel is a MUST - getting rid of that big standard bus wheel made it a) easier to fit in the car b) better to drive!
Why not throw in some mr2 mk3 roadster seats in too? Jimi's guide to fitting these is superb
If you're aftermarket suspension look to Koni for damper inserts + springs, or if you want something even less refined and a bit more 'go-kart-hero' then the D2 Coilovers are cheap enough (I've just fitted a set to mine...adjustability is nice but the supplied springs are very stiff).
Time to look at the brakes - limiting factor on size is what wheels you're running! I *love* my Tom's rims...so the biggest I could fit were Celica ST185 GT4 Calipers and discs up front. Even then I had to tickle them with the grinder and they're VERY close!
As far as engine mods go...if you want value-for-money power upgrades then ditch the 4-AGE and pop in a 3S-GTE or do as I've done and drop in a 3VZ-FE V6. BUT...think carefully before you do.
Out with the old...
In with the new!
