Starting issues
Hi. My mk2 has been stood for 6 months and I put a fresh battery on and she started up fine. After about 2 mins it cut out. I tried to restart and she was very rough idle then spluttered to a halt. Checked levels and topped up out and coolent and sll ok. Every now and then she starts fine and tick over is smooth as it should but then cuts out and sometimes it's just runs rough when starting with a bit extra throttle pressed. Tried fuel pump by shorting b+ and fp in the diagnostic cap. Any ideas. I am thinking fuel block maybe. Just strange that sometimes is starts and runs perfectly but then cuts out. After it cuts out there is a strange wuring noise that lasts a few seconds. Any ideas anyone?

I am still having isues I have changed the tps and the iacv. Still the same starts and stalls out after a few seconds. If given a bit of acceleration it will tickover when it’s warmed up and drive but not rev over 2500. Then sometimes it hiccups and then runs fine full revs and power. It’s staring to annoy me. I am thinking it could be Ecu? No codes showing on diagnostics

Re: Starting issues
I had this problem on my Mk2 Spider, been sat for......well longer than I care to admit, pulled the coil and it looked fine. I've got an Apexi filter mounted to the standard air pipe with a couple of the OEM resonator boxes attached. Removed the little box on the top of the pipe so it could pull air straight through and the issue has gone, haven't had a chance to pull the filter off yet but assume its clogged up with dirt after being sat for so long.

Re: Starting issues
Pull the coil and ignitor off the car and inspect the coil for cracks!
If it looks ok put an ohmmeter on it as per the BGB. If that all checks out clean the rust off the bracket and try it then.
Another thing to check is the electrical connectors and the injectors. When it's running ruff just push and wiggle each one to see if it makes a difference. I had one do this to meet that was intermittent

Thanks I will try giving the injectors a wiggle. I just know it’s something like a bad earth or something. Or something that seems to get better when the car is hot like a dry joint.
