I have tried the ECU but engine will not start. Have double checked with the supplier who tells me it's from a 1993 jdm import. It's labled 3S-G M/T 89661-17280 . My original is labled 3S-G GT 89661-17380 for a 1992 jdm import. I have to use my car everyday for work so cannot get my ECU sent for repair until I get a replacement. Please some info on this really would be appreciated, would it just need reprograming . The reliabilty of the car has gone down hill a lot in the last couple of days, Won't start when it's hot, no engine warning light even when ignition first turned on.
Regards Steve

Just seen this

Sorry i could have saved you the bother...the ecu you bought to replace your old one is a 3sge one (ie, non turbo) so it wont work.

Just find someone to repair the ecu you got. Unless you manage to get another 17380 ecu that has already been repaired then another is just going to fail on you anyway.

Not only is it a n/a ECU but it's for a Rev 1.

jimi has the advantage of access to the Toyota EPC so can search by VIN Number.

For we lesser mortals checking on ECU part number compatibility, these may be useful. :)

They happen to be from the T-bar pages: the tintop ones are identical.

Hi all.
Well I took the plunge and ordered the 10uf 50v capacitors online. Removed old leaking caps and repaired broken tracks on the board. fitted new caps, and hey presto car is now running perfect.
Many thanks to those who helped by replying to my messages
regards Steve
