Parts! Parts and more parts!
So one of my friends neighbors saw my MR2 the other day and offered me 'a couple of boxes of parts' for free.
Went to pick it up today and he has given me an entire working but disassembled 3sgte engine for a celica gt4 st205. Plus about 3 boxes of parts including a hks blow off valve, spare starter motor and alternator etc. And all the parts to build the engine,
(Going to be a fun rest-of-summer project to build the engine in my shed).
The thing i'm most interested in is the ECU which I got. I know almost nothing about Celicas but since I have a Rev 2 I've been considering a Rev 3 ECU for a while so I can run MAP and larger injectors. Does anyone know if this Celica st205 ecu is the equivalent to rev 3 ecus on the mr2 and would work with my engine provided I got a wiring loom?
Additionally I got a Celica charge cooler which I've heard lots of people like to put in their MR2's. Would it be worth installing that at some point?
Thanks!

Re: Parts! Parts and more parts!
The ST205 ECU is nearly the same as the MR2 rev3 ECU, but there are differences. The map is better (safer as boost comes on and releases an extra couple of bhp, but at high revs the fuel-cut is set at 1.2bar rather than 1.3bar. The ECU needs to see that both the charge cooler fluid level and the pump are OK, or it will throw codes. The latter is a bit trickier fake if you don't have the st205 pump and wiring loom. Finally, the MR2 PAS system connects to the ECU, but not on the celica... there are wires that you need to disconnect, but once you've done that the PAS will turn on regardless of whether the engine is turning over or not.
Obviously, that's all in addition to the normal tasks you need to do to convert from rev2 to rev3 management.

Sweet thanks for the reply. My PAS is broken anyway so i'm not so bothered about that. I guess i'll need to throw on the chargecooler and grab a pump. Shouldn't be too much of a problem. I can get silicone hoses to accommodate that.shinny wrote: ↑13/05/19 15:34 The ST205 ECU is nearly the same as the MR2 rev3 ECU, but there are differences. So you are saying that I should just get a regular MR2 Rev3 wiring loom and that will plug right in?

The plugs fit, but there are wiring differences. Noted in this thread, including my diagrams: https://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=157965
Toxo's big thread on fitting the chargecooler: https://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=103914
I personally don't rate the fiat radiator, so fitted this: https://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=181121

Thats pretty much all I need. Thanks so much for the info dude. I'll see what I can do about grabbing a loom and i'll certainly look into options regarding a radiator.shinny wrote: ↑14/05/19 15:18 The plugs fit, but there are wiring differences. Oh in that case I apologize. I didn't see any names so I just assumed it was directed as me since the title was 'Parts'.
