1992 sw20 mk2 recently bought but only got 2 keys and no fobs

Post by michelle o brien »

Hi I have purchased my 1st ever Mr2 she is an Na 1992 sw20 in Ireland. I was re fitting speakers and I came across a box underneath the seatbealt it was a Toyota Security Alarm. I never got any fobs with the car, would it be possible to buy a fob and try programming it to get it working. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Thank you in advance

Michelle

IMO if you want an alarm it’s best to forget the factory system and install aftermarket. Unless your a purist a modern alarm will operate far better, have more functions and cost less than a couple of new fobs.

Pretty sure a rev1/2 wouldn't have had remote central locking as standard, the security system would have been activated when the doors were locked with the key (and possibly the internal door lock button) so no key fobs
Black is not a colour ! .... Its the absence of colour
