Found a receipt for a ct26!!!

Post by tommy10101 »

Sifting through all the old history for my rev3 1994 tubby, I found a receipt from 2014 for a ct26 turbo. The previous owner did tell me the turbo failed on him and he replaced it, but only just finding out now it wasn’t the ct20b it should have been

I am just about to take the car to the garage to gave a boost controller, charge cooler, decat dp and full system. Should I ask them to find a ct20b also? What sort of differences would I have if I just left the ct26 on there?

Cheers

Dont waste any money on upgrading your car if you stay with a stock CT26. Been there done that in 2008.

Depends on how much the receipt says?

Yeh maybe. Previous owner fitted a heat shield so I can’t actually see the turbo at the moment.

I am aiming for 300bhp. If it does turn out to be the ct26, should I be looking at replacing it with the ct20b? or would I be better off looking at other alternatives?Ive read other turbos can provide lower intake temps and more reliability at ~1.1bar? I’m planning to keep stock internals

Definitely stock then. Hybrids start at around £700.

I recently ordered my hybrid with a TT S148 wheel (housing varies, ct26 or ct20b) from GT4-Play for more than £800. This is suitable for up to 400hp, assuming the engine etc has been well maintained.

The CT26 is a good turbo once modified but regardless of what you put into yours your heading for 250 RWHP tops on a stock engine. 300 RWHP is out of reach on the early 3S-GTE engines, the injectors are to small.

Or do you mean the injectors changed again post 1994 rev3? I thought they changed from rev2 - rev3 but that’s it

Carl is right about WHP for rev 1/2s from what I have seen on RRs

Rev3 has diff set up to rev1/2s (AFM on rev1/2s as example not on REV3s)
yes rev3 injectors are diff as was turbo, ecu etc etc etc.
Rev3s can achieve 280 RWHP with very little mods but you do need the right turbo.
You really need to check yours fully as receipts etc dont tell you much.
