3SGTE Big end bearings.
Hi there, I'm new to the forums after purchasing a new poorly Mr2 Turbo rev2.
Great to read some of your helpful posts and tips!
Looking forward to helping in return and learning more!
So the car I bought was around 2.5k with a blown engine but hey, what can I say, I a mechanic and I fell in love
It has a spun big end bearing and the crank is very worn.
The machine shop say it needs +0.75mm oversize bearings but I cannot find them anywhere.
The head is OK, as is the block, and I could buy another STD size crank at a push.
It's already having forged rods and pistons, ARP studs etc..
Does anybody have any input or advice from any similar situations or could you tell me if it's possible to put +0.75mm bearings on a 3SGTE?
Any thoughts welcome.
Cheers.
Ben.

Re: 3SGTE Big end bearings.
Just make sure you’re not taking two bites of the apple, the previous owner of my 3SGTE forged the engine which is great but jumped from 86mm straight to 86.5mm pistons totally ignoring 86.25mm.
Engineers seem to have a habit of this (sorry anyone on here who maybe an engineer)

Re: 3SGTE Big end bearings.
I forgot to say its just the rod journals that went to +0.75.
The main journals are still only +0.25. The crank looks beautifully polished! Such a shame its out of spec.
Ok, so I've bought a new crank, turns out King and ACL only do +0.5 bearings so I wasn't going to find those.
The machine shop line bored the block of the fastest mr2 in the world! What a small world! They should they know what they're doing.
A member on another popular mr2 forum posted a crank on ebay and assures me it's on STD bearings, so ill send that to the shop and get it checked.
I'll continue the project on a new thread.
Thanks for your help.
