Hello all
Apologies for posting another radiator based question, but I need advice from you experts again.
Today I fitted a new radiator after having issues; basically my engine light came on,
temp maxed out. So took all the gubbins out and found the bottom of my rad had disibig rated and all the flooring was soaked. Coolant level was non-existent.
Anyway...changed it today. All went really well. Topped up the coolant, bled radiator (although no fluid appeared to come forth). Engine light no longer lit (yay).
Took her for a spin..literally 3 mins in and temp rocketed and maxed again.
Checked engine oil. Removed the engine oil top and white smoke came out (not gushed out, just floated out). Checked dip stick; showing oil as almost non-existent.
So topped up.
Now the coolant is still vanishing. I can't see any white smoke anywhere (as in coolant leaking on to hot pipes / bits. Also the heaters are not getting hot.
Any ideas please?
Also, the radiator fan seems to be coming on quite a bit (when parked up with engine running as I am now...on my drive). Is that normal?

Ive bled my turbo numerous times along with my chargecooler too.
My rad even has an inaccessible bleed tap and the bolts snapped from the piping underneath...however ive never had a problem bleeding as i follow these rules....
Top up the coolant slowly
Lower and raise the rear of the car to release the air
Bleed the heater matrix by hanging the hoses on the bonnet
Run the heater on hot full blast while doing this too
and
Follow the BGB!

Thanks for the ‘Big Green Book’ info and your advice on bleeding the system. I now have a new rad, bled properly with heaters working!
