Insulate the centre plastic tunnel?

With the hot weather lately I'm wishing I wasn't getting roasted on my left side from the heat in the centre plastic tunnel (I'm not really sure what to call it?) Has anyone insulated this or done anything to reduce the external heat? If you have if love to hear some details of how you did it. If you haven't, do you see any problems with doing so?
