Dashboard instruments not working

Post by stephen clarke »

I had a problem with a flat battery and blown fuse resulting in car not starting. While these have been resolved and car now starts & drives I have no instruments working (speedo, rev counter, fuel gauge, warning lights etc) and also no fan blower, electric windows or remote locking. I have checked all the fuses and they are Ok so was wondering if there was maybe a relay which governs the power supply to the dashboard.

Any help/ideas would be appreciated. thanks

I had a similar problem some time ago (battery installed with wrong polarity - silly me  ). In my case it turned out the fusible link in the wiring loom near the battery terminal was blown.
Easy fix if you know where to look - (check the forum for more info).

if it starts runs and drives its not fusible link.

dome fuse in kick panel is where I would start looking

if thats ok then check out the main fuses in the frunk box, not the blade ones but the box ones

just seen mk3, forget this post

When I checked the fuses the two that had blown and have now been replaced were no. 41 (IG2) & No.27 (Radio 1)

Cordialement.

My car is 2004 - revision model

Our wiring must be slightly different as Radio1 is definitely 27

I don't know what happened to burn fuses but there is little damage to them - just a small break.

Here is a link to my wiring scematic

I also have a full wiring diagram if that is of any use
