Higham Ferrers to Saint Neots (B645) Anyone?
Has anyone driven the B645. I discovered after a quick google looking for roads where i am currently staying.

I think it could be worth a go this coming weekend, but would love to hear from someone whi has actually driven it. It seems a popular bikers road but that may not always translate to a drivers road.
Are there any other good routes around the St Neots area?

I drive it many times a week as it is my alternative route to work. Great road to drive especially on a cold crisp night. worth a go for sure
What's the worst that can happen?

Finally drove this today.. Admittedly a little dissappointed although it may have been a case of bad timing.
Starting of at St Neots there was a short stretch of NSL before being slowed for a village, when i encountered a typical sunday drive rover I eventually found some space to overtake it and although the road was not without its moments I was expecting a little more from it.
The return drive, as titled was better, quite high speed and some nice bends too, still the road is slightly let down by the fairly frequent villages and accompanying speed limits.
I did turn off somewhere onto the B660 which definetly my favourite part of the day, perhaps not such high speeds but more frequent open bends with decent views ahead made this one a winner
Sleep-o - Very lucky to have the option of this road as a commute

If you want a longer play, try the northern half of the B660 from Kimbolton to Ramsey St James then the B1040 to Whittlesey (east of Peterborough). The latter is straight as a ruler for over 5 miles.richard_p88 wrote:I did turn off somewhere onto the B660 which definetly my favourite part of the day, perhaps not such high speeds but more frequent open bends with decent views ahead made this one a winner

I live in raunds, so im just off that road, and drive it everyday, its a good road, but not what i would class as one of the greatest driving roads.
the most fun roads ive driven where in the lake district, and that was in a clio, look forward to going up there again in 2012 with the mr2.

If you think they're good, try the Highlands of Scotland. It will blow your socks off.Glob1234 wrote:the most fun roads ive driven where in the lake district, and that was in a clio, look forward to going up there again in 2012 with the mr2.

However this is the best way to do it.

Completely gutted that circumstances prevented me from going this year.
2012 will be my third time.
Those who have not been, even the once, simply don't know what they're missing.
Driving heaven. On the correct side of the road too. Plus a proper breakfast to set you up for the day.
Better still, the natives are friendly and they produce the best drink in the world.

Imagine having this as your commute to work:
The only road out of my village, to civilisation, to a pint of milk.

That's the North End of the Island, lovely. Quite a way away from me, about an hour's drive.
Cuithe-raing snowdrift step, a road with famous hairpin bends and awkward camber. You might find that you have too much grip for that.

Bang on. You went right past the end of the road up to my village. Wish I had known!
