Slippery sideways laps of Brandshatch Indy....

Post by wackojacko »

Hi I'm new so still exploring the site.

This is me on Friday at Brands Indy, damp and greasy...

Starts on my second ever lap in the car :

Taking the Co owner out in it and passing a lighter 750MC MR2 running on 888's :D :

Good videos :th:

You need to steer clear of the rumble strips though when greasy, they turn into patches of ice!

Enjoyed that though. What's the deal? Is it a 750MC car?

Exactly ! adds to the fun :) only hit the apec rumble strips a couple of times as they are alittle fierce at Brands.

Cheers, yeah it was good fun.

It's a 1992 Rev 2 Sw20 NA :
-Cusco 6 point bolt in roll cage
-Buckets with TRS Harnesses
-Induction kit
-Custom De-cat S/S twin exit exhaust (98Db)
-Sachs Competition clutch with Exedy pressure plate
-Fully stripped out
-Japspeed short shift kit
-Sparco Wheel on Snap off boss
-Overhauled Brakes
-Lowered by 35mm

Not a 750MC car due to wrong cage to comply etc and heavier as it is still a full road car and see's road use. It is also running on weird Nangkang tyres that grip really well when hot but don't seem to lose any tread depth when sliding it around :S which makes it even more amusing. We're keeping it on crap budget tyres as it's alot more fun as the car moves around alot more.

:laughing :laughing :laughing

That's the first positive review I've seen about Nankang "ditch finders" :clapping:

Look forward to more videos :)

O yes I know it would be quicker with Bilstein shocks opposed to standard and better tyres, but MR2's with really sticky tyres everyone says they are abit boring to drive on track. I prefer to have a play and feel the car move around alot more..... plus we can buy 4 Nangkangs for the price of 1 R888, bit of a no brainer in my opinion.

I bought some Blitz alloys off a member from IMOC and he had a track weapon he sprinted with his son, and told me he bought all his tyres from the BTCC teams. They didn't have much tread on them, but they weren't half sticky! And at £30 each was the best way to get good cheap track rubber :th:

Why's that ?

Brilliant fun, enough grip to get going quickly but not so much grip that I couldn't slide it around and have a play when I wanted.
