Guildford meet and drive
Forgive me if I'm out of place for posting here as I know I'm not an organiser but it would e nice perhaps if we could organise a meet with a bit of spirited driving in the local area for the fun of it. I did organise one of these before and then couldn't attend as my car was out of action but would love to set up another

I'm in as long as it's not too spirited, my licence is important to me.

Re: Guildford meet and drive
I'm definitely up for doing this, the one last year was great fun, first run I did.
I seem to recall TLF made a route when you couldn't make it, and did a great job of it last year, unfortunately I don't know the area very well so would be of little assistance.
When are you thinking of doing it? as can I suggest waiting till at least March, to allow the weather to clear up a bit and for it to get lighter? As it was great to have the T-bar off with the sun out!

Yeah defo!!! I will be bringing my moonroof anyway as my tbar is undergoing serious work and I don't think I can drive just a shell
I am happy I plan routes an include food stops along the way too if people want a spot of lunch

It might be if you can stop tinkering with it.shinny wrote:If my car is in a suitable enough working order then I'll be game
The deeper into West Sussex and Hampshire you go the better they get.Mr2karl_tbar wrote:I'm thinking something involving he hindhead tunnel again. Some nice roads round there too.
Only if it's wet...Mr2karl_tbar wrote:Anyone up for route planing?
Happy to assist - see below.
Early in March sounds about right to kick things off.
Guilty as charged.gavsdavs wrote:Agreed - TLF knows the area it seems...Woody928 wrote: I seem to recall TLF made a route when you couldn't make it, and did a great job of it last year, unfortunately I don't know the area very well so would be of little assistance.
Knowledge acquired from past IMOC Guildford meets/runs.
Mark (Woody) will have no problem keeping up now that he has embraced the dark side.

Sounds gd to me mate, can't go wrong with a pub lunch.Mr2karl_tbar wrote: I am happy I plan routes an include food stops along the way too if people want a spot of lunch
Its pretty much clear now tbh, it was very bad in places but all of the flood water has disappeared. Only reminents of trees left over by the side of the road. I got lucky and live in a pocket that wasn't affected, flooded all around thoughgavsdavs wrote: Also agreed - isn't half of surrey under water still ?
I won't be getting left behind on the straights this time Getting the beast back this weekend to go on the road.TonyleFrog wrote: Mark (Woody) will have no problem keeping up now that he has embraced the dark side.

Would love to do this! Just like the old days! But my car is in no state at the mo to go anywhere gonna be a couple of months yet.
I would say follow the old route, A283/286

Re: Guildford meet and drive
The A286 is pants. Outside of the towns/villages, the only NSL sections are between Milford and Grayswood and the short downhill bit just before Midhurst. The rest is 40 or 50. No fun at all. By contrast the A283 is 50 until just short of the Surrey/West Sussex border south of Chiddingfold, then NSL to Petworth. Better, but not a lot.Olly.Dent wrote:I would say follow the old route, A283/286
There are much better roads to be found further west. If we head direct to Hindhead, it will provide an opportunity for 3 passes through the tunnel.

That's what I was thinking. In the bordon area too there are some epic roads, not fast but tight and good for a bit of skilled driving

Re: Guildford meet and drive
My first post on here but seeing as i got my car on saturday its time I joined in!
I'm in the crowthorne/Bracknell area so it's not too far for me and it'll be nice to meet some fellow mr2 owners I'm also clueless when it comes to knowing if anything seems out of place on my 2 so it'd also be nice to tap into the knowledge of others. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this
