Cotswolds Run - Sunday 28th April - tomorrow!!

Post by chris »

After having discussions with another local member we have decided to try and attempt to start a new meet... depending on how it goes it may become regular. We were thinking of a run to the Cotswolds, taking in the Fosse Way and ending up at a nice country pub in one of the picturesque villages for a few photos and a bite to eat.

I have planned a route out, not over the top for a starting point... just over 30 miles and around 50-60 minutes of driving time between places:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Un ... r&t=m&z=11

This will take us from the Northbound Warwick Services, onto the Fosse Way, through Moreton-in-Marsh and upwards towards Broadway... from there we will get to the New Inn public house in Willersey (ample car parking space) for a chat, a glass of coke and a packet of crisps (or a meal depending on what you want of course).

I reckon, if we were to meet up at the Warwick Services at around 10.30am, have a 30 minute chat and aim to leave at around 11.00am, we will get to the pub for around lunchtime (12.00pm). Here we can have whatever we want, a chat in the car park or a sit down meal (I may need to book in advance though)... there is a small pond across the road that is perfect for some reflecting photo opportunities of your car.

There is some nice stops along the way for some more photo opportunities if you so wish.

After the pub we can either go our separate ways, or have another little drive out... if the majority would like the latter I can organise another route, or we can just complete the return journey in the opposite direction.

If you're interested, please put your name down and suggest the best date for you

Cheers,

Chris

This is a favourite for me and the wife, Bourton on the Water, whitney, Broadway and Stow on the Wold. Count us in for April as we are away at the end of May, should have the bodywork done by then as well. :yahoo:

Right, dates that are currently a big no-no:

20th & 21st April - Highland Drive
11th & 12th May - Japfest

Chris and I sent a few PM's between ourselves on a separate subject and thought this could be a good idea... turned out we were right! Nice one Chris :)

April has been superb (weather-wise) for the past few years. I'm away from May 6th til 17th so April much better for me. Preferably a Sunday too :th:

And I only want blue M&M's in my dressing room, OK?! ;)

Bit too far for me

Have to work most weekends - well 10 hours to fit in somewhere - so not able to make it without booking time off :ranting1:

If it was a bit nearer I would, but that s***hole of the West Midlands conurbation always gets in my way when travelling below it due to travel time to even get south of Brumajum

chris wrote:The route would probably start somewhere easy to get to for folk from around the country, maybe the Warwick Services on the M40 (Northbound) where there's a little cut-through (although this will need investigating as to whether it actually exists) straight onto the Fosse Way.
There are emergency vehicle entrance/exits on both sides.
Northbound
Southbound
Whether the access points within the services are covered by CCTV I don't know. Someone would need to check it out as, if you're caught, it's Section 36 RTA offence which will net you 3 points.
If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room!
