17" wheels & Tyres IN an MR2 - Success!!

Post by Howlin_Mad »

Hi people,

I'm travelling to pick up my new wheels this weekend - they are 8J & 9J with tyres on.

Question is - will i get them in the MR2?

I'm going to ditch the space-saver and remove the passenger seat. Will an 8J wheel+tyre go in the frunk? If so i should be laughing with the other 3 next to me.

TIA

HM

Well if needs be i'll let all the air out - should work if Dan has had them in on an 8J. If not, worst case scenario i'll bungee the boot lid and whack one in there until I can get to a local tyre place and get some tyres removed. It's 110 miles away so I need to get them in one way or another!

Id love to see a pic of them in the car as I had trouble squeezing just 2 x 255/35/18 tyres on the passenger side alone. :D

I know a 255/35/18 tyre wont fit in the frunk as i tried this.

I've done it with the seat in place.

Had to take out the roof panel, but it went on fine once they were in.

Alloy in the frunk, put spacesaver in the footwell, and got 3 on the passenger seat

(A deflated spacesaver will also fit in the boot)

got 4 17" wheels in my first MR2 - had to pick them up from london... space saver went in the rear boot (with a little bit of persuasion), one in the frunk and the others on the passenger seat... if you're taking the passenger seat out you should have no problems :th:

Might be worth removing the plastic liner in the frunk just to give you that bit of extra room if you need it?

Good luck :D
