Rubbish wheels

Post by APDevelopments »

What other Toyota wheels fit the MR2 MK2?
Basically my MR2 is going to go in for some major body work and I want to keep my nice shiny alloys away from the dust and paint overspray.
I would like to put some rubbish old steelies or naff alloys on it so they can still move the car about.
So to buy a set of 4 I'm wondering what other Toyota car wheels fit the 5 stud MR2 pattern?

just about anything that has 5 x 114 stud pattern with around ET30-40 offset.

You will need 14" or bigger to fit over the brakes.

Need to make sure the tyres not too tall otherwise they will rub on suspension.
15" = 50 aspect ratio
16" - 45 aspect ratio
17" = 40 aspect ratio
18" = 35 aspect ratio

the other option is 3 x space savers from scrap MR2s (plus yours as well)

Don't forget spigot rings if the CB is larger than 60.1. If it's just for rolling around a workshop you can not bother with them, but if you're going to be driving it any distance with these wheels make sure you get them!

Unless the OP has a rev1 (which isn't specified) then you need 15" wheels to clear rev2+ brakes.

That's a pretty rough rule of thumb, but doesn't actually hold true for the standard 15" tyre sizes! Although in this case, that's not overly important...

This link lists all OE wheels with 5x114.3 PCD and 60.1 centre bore, you could fit wheels with a bigger centre bore but if you are driving with them you'd need spigot rings as well.

http://www.wheelfitment.eu/PCD/5x114.3%20/60.1.html

There are other similar sites if you do a search for 'OEM wheel pcd'

Alternatively I'd see if anyone near you has a spare set of stock wheels kicking around you could borrow or perhaps look for a set of 4 x space save wheels if you just need them to move the car around on.

The spacer saver idea is the best, a wrecker must have a pile of them with new rubber still fitted ! You could also just tape large diameter cardboard circles to your existing wheels if the tyres are near stuffed and you don't care about overspray on just the rubber.

Space saver idea is good one, but assuming Rev 1, no-one wants Rev 1 14" wheels. I picked up a set (with tyres for a quid off eBay). Unf, they've now gone to the great scrappy in the sky, but......

Bargain, I got $90 when mine when to the scrappy years ago. People don't realise how much they are worth in Alloy and are better off scrapping them than trying to sell them.
