Alloy Wheels

Post by Pob »

Hi,

The alloys on my Mk1 need refurbing. How do people normally do it? They are unpainted apart from the teardrops. I was going to get a crimped wire brush on the angle grinder but unsure if it will gouge the alloy.Has anyone done this to clean them up?

Thanks,
Dan

Use some wet and dry

Then I would paint them silver personally

Don't use a wire brush, it will mark the alloy and you'll struggle to get them smooth again.
Black is not a colour ! .... Its the absence of colour

Thanks for the messages.

Martin's picture has made my decision for me, I'll do them all silver. Did you spray them yourself?

Thanks,
Dan

I did yes but the prep time in sand blasting them was ridiculous, i used some premixed 1k alloy paint.
I got a 1lt of each
Primer
Top coat
Laquer
And a rattle can of etch primer.
I didnt need the full liter though, i would say 500ml should do.
