Re: Tyre recommendations please
A bit of actual information:
Offside front, looking backwards towards the spring cup (terrible focus)
Nearside front, looking backwards towards the spring cup:
The difference between old and new fittings according to willtheyfit.com:
Current is 215/40/R17 on 7.5inch ET45
Desired new is 215/45R17 on 8inch ET32.
I think a 215/45 on the front is going to be very close.

There was a post not so long ago where a guy had brought used wheels with 215/45/17.
The fouled the suspension cup so had to change the tyres to 40 profile which then fitted

They way I've been parking recently, going to need rim protect on the next bootsgavsdavs wrote:Rim protection is a pretty compelling reasonTonyleFrog wrote:Eagle F1s do (another plus point on my pro/con list).baileydom wrote:Personally I'd go with 215/40 as even that doesn't provide any rim protection (at least not with my tyres).

Re: Tyre recommendations please
I'd have to agree with Pete on the V12's .. Rach has them on F'Anni and I struggle to get them to squeal let alone break traction

I have AD08R's on my mk3 2zz and totally agree they are a fantastic tyre. I ran out of balls on the track long before I got them to squeal. HOWEVER... I would not want these on my car through the winter months. I didn't really trust them all that much in the wet. They're a track day and (without question) summer tyre only. So much the same as you say for the R888's...MR2DI4 wrote:Bit of a no contest there if you have the money. AD08R.
Personally I run Toyo R888's but you don't have the weather for them over there, you need to back off in really wet conditions.

Re: Tyre recommendations please
AD08R's with good tread on them should be fine in the wet (check their EU wet performance rating), though they'll struggle with large amounts of standing water. That said I wouldn't run them on a daily due to wear and they do struggle in the cold.
To add my own experience into the mix, I've been really happy with the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's on mine - 215/40R17 / 245/40R17.
