Mk1 wheels/tyres

Hi guys,

Newbie and my first time post. Please be gentle with me

Will some 6.5J R16 alloys fit a Mk1 and if so, what tyre size would you guys recommend please?

Also, on a Red Mk1 what is everyone’s preference when it comes to alloy colour? White? Black? Standard Alloy Colour? Other?

Would love some feedback please.

It's good to see another MK1 owner on here.
6.5j wheels will fit but the offset of the wheels will decide how well they'll fit.
I reckon a 195/45/16 tyre would be the right choice for a 6.5j wheel.
What colour you want your wheels is a personal choice, I personally can't stand black wheels I'd rather silver or bronze. There should be a few pics of both colours in my build thread.

As Angelo says 6.5' x 16" will fit, but the offset is really important, you'd really want to be looking for close to standard MK1 offset (35-38)
195/45/16 would be a fair choice, the RR would be very close to standard so speedo would be very close. 205/40/16 would be also be very similar, but in my opinion a bit too much tyre for a MK1.
