15min I think. I only got one session but if all goes well then I will be booking more track days in the future.
Is getting new tyres (the old ones have good tread just not good makes) worth it for 15min? Is it really going to cause that much trouble? Or just take it easy on the bends which was my original plan?

I've got nexens on rear and Yoko's on front on my standard 15s and Avon's on front and a crap make (sempio or something) on rears of my 16s.
Are you really going to fork out >£300 on tyres just to corner a fraction faster in an 18min session?

If your tyres are safe for the road (where there are hazards everywhere and risk to life and limb) then why would they be unsafe on a track (which is a controlled environment with dedicated runoff area).

You're driving your car to have fun... and it's your responsibility to drive with it's limits, including the limits of your tyres. Feel free to buy better rubber if you want - the warning against cheap rubber is universal, not just for track.

Personally I'm going to be running on R888s which will stick like glue to a dry track... but they aren't my normal road rubber! :laughing

IMO its not worth forking out for new rubber just for 15mins... Just go with what you have, drive within your and the cars limits and have fun
Then if you like it, you could look into new tyres if you think they are needed :th:

Thanks. That gives me a bit more confidence.
There has been plenty of mentions that I will end up in a ditch....smash the car etc etc all due to my type of tyres.
This track session is a feeler for me and see if I would like to do more in the future. I've upgraded my braking system because I feel it also suffers on the road.
At the Mo, I think my two handles well on the road (better than my other cars) though I don't drive it would n the wet.
I'm not gonna push it too much on track.

If you keep your car out of the ditch on the road, you're capable of keeping your car out of the barriers on the track! It's just driving... you're not racing, there's no pressure to go fast and you don't need to be on the absolute edge to have fun. That's absolutely not an endorsement of cheap tyres, simply of sane driving! :th:

As soon as people mention the word "track" there's a tendency to overthink everything...

Plus they're not going to get hot in a single session.
My issue with open pit days is I'll stay out an hour at a time lol

Quarter of a tank I'd have thought. Though I did record 4mpg when the V6 went on a sprint day :laughing

Between 3/4 and a full tank. In a twenty minutes session at brands Hatch I'd do a third of a tank.
        Average 9mpg on track
