Japfest Ticket Fiasco & Royal Mail - An Apology

Post by MR2Jay »

Here I am - Offering an apology due to the cack handed way that Royal Mail is run in this day and age.

All of the tickets were sent out last week, last Thursday in fact, first class. I had to use I7 envelopes due to the size of the tickets sent out (something I need to address with the organisers). Checked with the post office and purchased the postage advised by the clerk....

As it turns out, I was fed wrong information. Although why it has taken this long for that to be discovered is anyones guess.

So this is me apologising - there will be a surcharge on each and every ticket of 11p plus £1 for a little bit of card that they seem to feel is justified.

If you check at your sorting office, your tickets should be there :(

Again - I'm sorry

Oh dear royal mail strikes again :ranting1: , You should put in a complaint in if you haven't already as its the clerks job in the post office to weight and size the envelopes/parcels your sending to ensure the correct postage is purchased. (unless you bought stamp books based on there advice without handing them the envelopes)
either way your apology is accepted by me and il head down the local sorting office to collect and pay for my ticket.
At least we now know why they have been taking longer than usual this year.

surely a little RM note will be left at our homes to mention this and to confirm which sorting office we need to collect from?

This was part of my rant to them this morning.... So far only Chris seems to have had a card....

It's a sorry state really.... When you get a price for tyres or shopping or anything really, that is the price you expect to pay. Therefore when I get a price for postage, I don't expect people to have to pay more at the other end

Apology accepted though i dont think you need to apologise. Anyone would have done the same so its not your fault.

I haven't had a card and normally would do but will check with the local office anyway.

So they said it would be a regular letter when in fact it's a large letter, I assume? Very annoying, but obviously not your fault! Might be worth sending a mass PM and email to everyones paypal email address to explain this as not everyone checks the forum regularly.

Just to add this is not Royal Mail's fault at all, it's the Post Office who priced them wrong , totally different company.

We normally get a card too, so will the tickets have gone to the local PO or the main sorting office ?

Well there's a Royal cack up if ever I saw one. A well worded complaint to the company in question is in order I think.

For example, if you hadn't of checked then how were we to know where the tickets were, we might never of known and none of us got to go to japfest. I'll ask my postie tomorrow to see if he can shed some light on it.

But surely, we should all get a little card through the door in the next few days....?

Local sorting office. As Steve said, RM is responsible for mail delivery not the PO.

With only 7 delivery days to go, I would be proactive rather than risk it.
Insufficient postage is right at the bottom of the scale of priorities.

Used to get it a lot at work when the postage rates changed.
Sometimes it could take several days for the notification to turn up.
