my Japfest track session Vid

Post by jimGTS »

done a quick edit this morning before work to cut out all the boring bits.
was my first time on a track day.

snipet from the youtube description

my second "novice' mini session of the day, on my very first track day.
obviously this isn't a race, briefing stated no overtaking in the braking zones or the tight/dangerous corners, hence my gripe a copy of times in this video.

sure, I've still a lot to learn, but had great fun!
my brakes caused me issues on my first session, so i was cautious on my second, so a lot of early braking in this one.

some lines are questionable looking back, ha, but i did also try and rev match as much as i could on the down shifts, but overall i don't think i did too bad really.

mr2 turbo, running 300ish hp.

and yes, thats my oil temp gauge warning led turning on. clearly i didn't anticipate oil temps on a track day, even on a 10-15min session. still well within a comfortable zone.

Nice to quickly catch up again Chris.

I was back and forth the whole day, so only really got to chat to folks in the beginning, other than when I was sorting my indicator bulbs out, ha. Cheers for the tools.

Was certainly bumpy in areas on the track that require holding on for dear life!

My 'esses' to 'old paddock bend' line I now see was a little off, otherwise I could have kept with the evo. Ha. Maybe!

Great vid. I will watch properly when I got time as at work at the Mo. Sorry I missed you as I did want to catch up with the track guys to see how they got on.

I got to reedit my vid. 1st time I've used gopro studio. Can't work out how to do the writing at the beginning.lol

I'm hoping to get on track more this year as I loved my first track session here too.

Tyres will tolerate a few heat cycles before hardening off. If the tyres were new you have nothing to worry about, if they've already had some heat cycles you will notice how hard a slippery they are before coming up temperature.

And of course the first instance of that is a Honda driver.

I got round to watching it all and I came to the conclusion that you made me look like a snail.
It seems you had full confidence in your car and full confidence on the track the way you was driving.
Well done.

When you look back at your vids and the cars that pass you are genuinely quick cars being driven close to the limit you can be pleased with yourself. Good stuff :)

+1 :th: Jim you got better as then laps went on and you could see your aggression building to pass the white Evo.
