Well I have some bald tyres on the spare 15s, werth giving them a shot???
Just thought if I'm going to hassle of bringing the 15s (somehow! No idea how I'm gona do that unless I want 200miles of wear on the slicks or r888s, lol).

Appreciate it's just an air pressure thing to give some flex, but if I'm gona do it, may as well do it right ay! :-)
this has made my mind up about fitting a bodykit!!!

No bodykit means partial weight saving, money can be spent on my decent tyres! And have money left over for petrol to get there!! :yahoo:

:-)

steve, what was your best 60ft of the day? Or that you've had from an mr2??

Been told getting a 1.8-1.9 is pretty bloody good, but some have managed 1.4-1.6s!!!

My best 60ft that day was a 2.2480 but the car has done better in the past.
trouble with using R888's or other track tyres is that the sidewalls will be stiff for hard cornering, this is the exact opposite of what you want,i'd try some old toyo's as they are known to have soft sidewalls and will flex well when you load up the rear end under launch. In fact Shahid (builds 700hp mr2's) swears by nankangs and he has run 10's before.

I managed a 1.79 in the V6 Jim. It wasn't running very well but that wasn't evident until after the 1/8 mile post when i got into 3rd. Those 60ft times were good enough to see off Subaru STI's - until he flew past me later on up the strip

Again, probably down to the weather Steve, when i did that run it was fairly hot so i got no wheel spin at all and flew off the line whereas the Scooby bogged down a bit. I imagine the 4wd cars were getting better traction off the line last weekend but when you and Jim could put all that power down you were sailing past them.

isnt there a soft wall r888 available as well??

Yes i'd use them, just be a PITA taking a spare set of rims with you.On a dry day(you wouldn't be dragging in the wet) a bald tyre will have more grip than a new one :th:

mmmm

tricky one...

thats the thing, i either drive up on some worn t1rs for example with my rear 15s on, no fuss.
or i use the bald tyres on the 15s, which would mean not road legal, so id have to drive up in the 18s
or go all out with some slicks, which would mean bringing them along and wearing the 18s up there.
:confused1:

plus, where the hell to store 2 wheels while im on track!
wouldnt want to leave some bbs lm's laying around, lol!

Given how cheap and plentyful stock 15's are i'd have a set with normal road legal tyres on the car and a spare set of rears with slicks/almost illegal tyres on,then just carry the two rears behind the seats or in the boot with the lid tied down onto them and swap them when you get to the strip. That way if you have too much 'fun' on the rears you can still drive home legally.
