I always thought you could, and still do... however the part numbers differ; mk1 is 85964-17010, mk2 is 85964-20020

Re: Pop Up headlight
the MK1 /MK2 relays aren't interchangeable IIRC there are at least 2 versions possibly 3 variations for the MK1 (1a, changeover and 1b) depends on the year.
What makes you think the relay has failed? they are normally pretty reliable.

Re: Pop Up headlight
The headlights woulden't go up, so i did a continuity check of the relay.
And after taking the cover of i discovered some burned traces on the board, i soldered on some Wire to compensate.
Now the lights can go up and down...
but they Will not turn on, only if i flash the brights.
and i suspekt one of the the transistors has failded.

Re: Pop Up headlight
That relay is the retract control, it only raises/lowers the lights, it doesn't control whether they are on or not, that's controlled by the switch and the headlight relay. You can download the UK wiring diagrams from here
https://www.mr2oc.co.uk/download-cats/c ... 0-mk1.html page 35 covers the headlights

Re: Pop Up headlight
Thank you wery much, i Will have a look at the diagram, and test the headlight relay tomorrow.
But i will still be searching for a new relay, because the cover do not fit over the old relay anymore...
And thanks for the welcome This seems like a great forum
