I did think it was odd that they were still adamant that it was still going ahead when everything else was being cancelled/postponed. I reckon absolute worst case this year's tickets will carry over to next year's event

Just seen this post from the japfest organisers on Facebook:

COVID-19 Update: 2020 Events Update

Following further developments with the Coronavirus and the subsequent changes to the motorsport calendar in the UK, we have made further alterations to our own 2020 events calendar.

The VolksWorld Show is scheduled to run over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th October at its traditional home of Sandown Park.

On the 4th October, we will now be staging a Japfest-TRAX double header event at Silverstone, bringing together the very best cars from the Japanese car scene as well as the wider modified car community, working with our sister brand Fast Car.

Then on the 25th October, we’re delighted to announce that we will stage a rescheduled Ford Fair incorporating the Classic Ford Show. So the original Ford Fair, due to take place on Sunday 9th August, will now take place on the new date of the 25th October. By combining elements of the Classic Ford Show, we hope to bring the very best of the Ford scene at one iconic venue for what we hope will be a truly memorable live-action event.

As ever, this is a continually evolving situation and we remain guided by government policy and advice from health officials. We would like to thank the support of our venue partners, our customers, clubs, traders and sponsors for their patience and understanding at this time.

All existing bookings can be carried forward to be used at either of the new dates in 2020, or carried forward into 2021. We advise ticket holders to check our social media pages, website and their inbox for further updates in the coming weeks.

We will of course continue to monitor developments in the weeks ahead. The safety of the public and our staff are our number one priority, and we will continue to be guided by the advice from public health bodies and the UK government.
Like other companies in this sector, Kelsey Media remain committed to delivering our events in a safe environment. We are working closely with our venue partners, taking whatever steps necessary to ensure the safety of the public and staff alike. We will therefore advise customers in due course if anything else changes.

You can also keep up to date with developments by visiting https://classicsworld.co.uk/volksworldshow/ for the VolksWorld Show or https://www.fastcar.co.uk/fce-events/ for the other live action events.

In the meantime, if you have any further queries, please email us at shows@kelsey.co.uk, or call 01959 543730.

Looks like we might actually get to go to a car show this year

Predictably, all shows from this events organiser have been cancelled for 2020.

Depends on what level of risk you're happy to accept.

I dont think there was much risk at simply only 250 cars as opposed to the normal 2000 + no trade stands and no show and shine, all outdoor so easy social distancing . having worked all through the pandemic it was a nice safe day out .

At an open air event with plenty of space: probably less than shopping at your local supermarket.

Anything which does take place will be on a much smaller scale than hitherto.
Of course the question then is whether or not it is financially viable.

Only if people keep their distance, which in my experience over the past few months the majority will not, despite multiple prompts around them to do so.

In what circumstances are you finding this? What events have you been to? Or do you mean work? Shopping?
I go the supermarket once a week. Far fewer patrons than before it all went pear shaped.
Not had any distancing issues. Just need to be patient if/when anyone is lingering in the aisle.

Managed to get my first haircut in 4 months a couple of weeks ago. Not quite so scruffy now. :D

Shopping, the few times I've needed to use public transit, and general observations from when I've needed to go places. The few times I've used public transport (TfL services) 40-50% were not wearing masks despite it being required, and no one was enforcing it anyway.

Thought it would be different when I went to my Nans in North Yorkshire a couple weeks ago to assist with household related stuff after her cancer op it was no different there either.

The buses round my way have very few passengers atm. On my last trip there was the massive total of 5 (including me). All with face coverings.

The only other place indoors I need to be is the the occasional trip to the bank. No chance whatever of getting through the door without one. I'm sooooo tempted to see how they would react if I turned up attired thus though.

Now where did I put my water pistol...?
