Having problems with the brakes. It's a project car and didn't have any brakes on it when I bought it.

I've done a caliper rebuild all round, front and back. All new seal, boots and pistons on the front. Ive wound in the back brake and wound it back out 180° and then bled the system, back left, back right, front left and front right.

No air left yet the brake pedal doest feel firm at all and still goes all the way to the floor. There is a degree of braking but very very poor (tested up and down the driveway).

Have I missed somthing? Not mechanically minded and learning from you tube and this site so very much a novice.

had both my rear callipers done at local garage

similar brakes as you described, they tried to fob me off with faulty master cylinder or hoses expanding

i just made them keep bleeding them until they got it right

so i would say its just a bleeding problem, they can be a pita believe

I've used nearly a litre of brake fluid, is that normal I could I expect to use more?

I'll re-bleed the system and see what happens. I am doing it in the right order? Rear left, right, front left, right.

When I fitted my big brake kit I fitted a Hiace master cylinder at the same time which with everything connected up also needed bleeding , I cant remember how but found out on u tube , mine doesnt have abs though which could also make a difference .

Not 100% sure if mine has abs. How would I find out?

How much of a difference does it make if there is abs?

What year and model do you have ? If it has abs bleeding will be different in the frunk .

It's '92 N/A. Rev 2 I think

There's no difference that I'm aware of in bleeding the brakes on MR2's with ABS.

Not the brakes the master cylinder .

How is the bleeding different ?

Are you bleeding under pressure? I found it better to do it this way.

OK, I'm may sound really think now but, bleeding under pressure?

Historically bleeding is done by gravity. Now systems will pressurise the hydraulics. This bleeds better, particularly with the internal handbrake mechanism
