Can you swap other V6's not made by Toyota.

Hi Guys,

I was wandering if there are any other engines that can be V6 swapped into a mk2. Can for example the Jaguar 3.0 v6 or the Alfa Romeo v6 be swapped with the same ease as the Camry v6 for example?

I know the wiring will be different but apart from that does anybody know what other v6s will fit in an Mk2?

Thanks :)

Probably, but you'd be making your own mounts, choosing your own gearbox or making some sort of bellhousing adapter with a starter motor mouting on it, building your own loom with the relevant ECU.

I since the alfa v6s produce about the same as the 3vz does and you are very much *on your own*, the question becomes, "why would you want to".

tl;dr maybe, but i dont' think people bother with it as it becomes too much work.

The Busso V6 is an alloy block though so may be considerably lighter than a 3VZ. One of the best sounding V6's around too IMO!

A lot of work to make it work if it'll physically fit in the bay though.

You make a really good point gavsdavs. It is just like gazza said the sound and lightness but also the chromed in let pipes and it is such a nice engine. However are the 3vz's tunable?

anything is tunable.
Have looked into simple ign timing, port polishing and AFM tweeking bigger fuel pump and bigger injectors which can give a considerable increase in BHP and Torque but at a vast increase in fuel usage. looking at 30 - 40 BHP and simialr ftLBs according to this
http://www.mr2.com/forums/threads/1899- ... -N-A-v6-s)

also looking into supercharging which takes you into 2GR territory cost wise and the 2GR is by far the better engine for power.

Turbo charging - yep there is a guy in Germany running a 3VZFe with turbo at 450 bhp on stock internals with no issues.

simple mods like port polishing, y pipe and ign to 15deg BTDC gives a 25 - 30 bhp with no issue on fuel usage.

Bare in mind that the 1MZ-FE can be fitted and it's an alloy block.

The busso v6, even if it's alloy, is old, and also not very powerful compared to the supercharging options for the MZ engines and the 2GR engines. And you have all that integration work still to do.

If you want to do it for s-h-i-t-s and giggles go for it, but you won't find anything off the shelf to get you there or any howtos. Not likely to be easy unless you really know the engine.

?? Autodelta do a supercharger kit for the 3.2 Busso that takes it to ~320bhp. Seems pretty much in line with the MZ options. In NA form it's more powerful than an MZ in it's later versions.

The 2GR isn't that expensive really, found a number of then for $1500 or less. OK so the cheaper ones have done over 100k but one with 67k for $1550 isn't too bad.

3MZ-FE is even cheaper $600-$850.

these are all in America so shipping needs to be paid for, then the making them fit the car etc. but the core engine with loom and accesories are fairly cheap now.

prob find better examples of these engine with more than a 5 min google search. but something think about.
