Engine dead - 2zz swap?

Hi everyone

Bad news my engine is knocking and found to have no oil. It's basically dead. I've only driven it 100 miles and saw no oil leak or puddles. It was deemed ok at my recent mr2 health check. Bizarre!

Anyone got any advice on a 2zz swap and costs? I live near Watford. Thanks

Aero

I don't think it requires a huge amount of additional parts, a Celica or corrola t sport donor car and a new engine mount
Would you be planning on doing the swap yourself or sending it away to a garage?

Who's Patrick?

Quick update. Previous owners didnt keep an eye on the oil levels. Oil hadnt been changed for at least 2 years and engine was burning oil and started knocking. Furthermore, engine low level warning sensor not working or not present to my amazement. Anyway, what's done is done.

Does anyone think I will be able to sell this damaged engine for anything? Or should I just get my garage to dipose of it?

Plan is to get a 2zz swap conversion kit from SJ autosports and install it at my local MR2 specialist garage at start of July. It should be straight forward right?

Thanks. Shame Patrick is not close by or I would have got him to help.

My only concern is not knowing the history of the replacement engine. SJ Autosport claim to be a reputable supplier and provide docs of engine testing and mileage etc. Need to check what kind of warranty they offer though.

I used to have a 2zz in my old Celica GTS and from what I know they have a reputation for being bullet proof. So I guess I just have to cross my fingers and hope I don't get sold a dud.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Chris why would I need to do that? They are providing all parts required for the conversion. But I'm no mechanic.

They are providing 3 months warranty for the engine and gearbox. The engine is a 2zz from a celica, 70k miles and compression tested at a healthy 210 psi.

let me know how this goes!

I'd love to do this conversion but I don't have the room for 2 cars, if they can provide everything needed and I just have to install that would be perfect...
never really heard of them

2zz is the right engine for a roadster. SJ seem to be ok. They have a few corolla supercharged 2zz's knocking about. That's what I would get. But I would prefer Patrick to do the install. Andy
