I was going to suggest the old mitary road over to garelochead but you've included it. The road from garelochead to arrochar is a mess just now so hopefully it gets sorted out soonish.

A814 in the reverse direction that some of us did on the last day back to Dumbarton by the oil storage terminal :yahoo:

Tell you what; even better, while they're faffing around in Moidart and returning via Glenfinnan, we could do 5 or 6 laps then head direct for Fort William.

I haven't been on a Highland Drive which has used the A861 and/or the A830.
So these will be new (at least to me: not sure if either/both were used in 2011).
That was the year I had to miss out. Will take a trip on Streetview to see what I think.

Any chance we could visit John O Groats as we have never been there, so close yet so far :-)

If you look closely you'll find Mr Wedge's V6.

JOG is hugely underwhelming imo. The only reason to go tbh is to check it off a list of 'things I have done'. When we were there it was before the tourist season and most of it was closed. And make sure you don't need a p*** 'cos it will cost you 20p!

If we do head over that way it would be much more interesting to visit Duncansby Head and (weather permitting!) do the walk along the cliffs to view the Geo of Sclaites and Duncansby Stacks.

I have a question: while the A816 Lochgilphead to Oban looks interesting is it worth the extra hour it will take between Inveraray and Connel?

Also the A87/A890/A832 between Invergarry and Gorstan via Shiel Bridge, Strathcarron, and Achnasheen is much more fun than the A82/A833/A862/A832/A835 via Drumnadrochit, Beauly, Muir of Ord, and Contin.

See your previous suggestions:

and

Either route to Glencoe - right onto the A85 then A82 via Rannoch Moor or left onto the A85 to Connel then the A828 - is fine AFAIAC.
