Wheel fitment

Looking at a set of wheels for my new to me mk2 turbo. They are cheap, a style I like, and I plan to do a diy refurb on them.

Size is 17X8 front and 17X9 rear. Both with a 35 offset. I plan to run 215/40 front and 235/40 rear. Car is slightly lowered on coilovers.

Can anyone confirm if they will fit. I think they will but only just. Maybe with a bit of work on the wheel arch?

Thanks!

Yes, they will fit fine.

The only thing you *might* have to do is add a small amount of camber at the hub at the front for a bit more clearance between the wheel and the coilover. It depends on the coilover, some are a little wider than others.

agree same fitment as mine, but I would suggest running 245/40/17 on the rear not the 235 you have in post.
215/40/17 front is just right

Well i already have those 235 size tyres from something else so makes sense to use them. Cheers for the confirmation both of you.

Iā€™d go with a 245 tyre too

Yeah, 245 is perfect. May need to roll the rear a little, depends on ride height and camber. Might as well use a good 235/40 if you have one already though.

235mm tyres are closer than 245mm to the OEM rolling radius which affects the speedo reading.
They will fit but bear in mind that it's the minimum advisable width tyre for a 9J wheel.
