We are many years away from Electric cars taking over. My whole life is electronics and I wouldn't go near an electric car.....not yet anyway.
It’s a shame the prune settings will get this thread and not preserve your comment.
Electric cars are coming far faster than most people realise. Sooner the better. Performance cars have had their day. We are at the end of an age, one that is long overdue its final paragraph.
Were you not the one raving on some time ago about how great diesel cars were in terms of emissions ?

A better solution is the hybrid and use the regenerative breaking to charge the batteries instead of wasting it in the brake rotors. Use the electric only when stuck in traffic but spend most of the time on petrol and using the brakes to recharge a smaller battery.

Don't recall extolling the virtues of diesel emissions.

Diesel fumes kill more people than ISIS does.

I currently own a Toyota hybrid (my 3rd in fact) and the only reason I don't yet own an electric car is I'm waiting for my current PCP term to end before finally making the switch to a BEV.

I developed the European technical training (It's what I do for a living by the way) for the Opel Ampera-e (Chevrolet Bolt in the US) which is a full BEV and delivered the training for it last year in Germany to the 26 European markets that will eventually take it.
During my research of other OEMs I became aware of how many BEV's are going into production over the next 2 - 3 years.
Fossil fuelled cars days are numbered. It makes no sense for any of the OEMs to continue to invest in development of combustion engines. Only this week figures show diesel car sales are down 37% to date in 2018 and it's only April, which has hit JLR more than most as 90% of all JLR vehicles sold are diesel. They're already talking about workforce reductions.

Vehicle OEM's with their heads in the sand over this are at huge risk. Affordable performance cars are the last thing any manufacture should be considering right now.
They'll take the internet off us if people keep doing this.

Wow we are all going to be driving Corollas in the future, how exciting !

It gets worse, they will probably be self driving Corollas !

God I hope I'm dead before we run out of petrol.

The petrol engine doesn't need more development, it needs to be made smaller and the cars much smaller and lighter. Its the people that are the problem, not the technology.

Saved 26 minutes of my life, thats still a $100,000 car over here so its a waste of time.

I can buy a really decent used Subaru WRX over here every 5 years with low km's for what its going to cost you to put a new battery in an electric car.

Makes zero sense to even look at it for that price.

Brand new Jaguar vs a used Subaru... What a stupid comparison!
