Rev 2 turbo Tvis system

Post by notroubleclubber » 10/02/18 17:30

I was just going through some parts ive got in the garage ready to fit back to the engine when it comes back, and found that the inlet tvis system seems to be in two parts? I not noticed it before and wonder if its snapped in the middle or is it always like this?
I cant tell.

Google it and look at the images.

It appears to be in two parts if its totally dissembled if your referring to the butterfly plates.

The link you have posted shows a MK1 TVIS, which may or may not be the same as a rev3.

Ummm the rev 3 doesnt have that tvis system. The inlet manifold is completely different. Only the rev 1/2 has it

Sounds like you have ACIS not TVIS. This link explains the difference http://turbomr2.com/MR2/Reference/TVIS/TVIS.htm

There's also an article in KY2 on ACIS http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2.html ... bartid=276
This thread has some pictures http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/forums/41/165171 ... s#p1750517 which may help.

Rev2 turbo has TVIS, not ACIS Jimi. None of the Turbo's have ACIS, that's an NA thing.

No idea, I'm not that familiar with either of them, other than they ditched it for Gen3 3SGTE's and on the Gen 2 you usually remove it after a certain power level as it becomes a limitation.

You can get blanking plates which are in two halves as well so I guess they are supposed to be in two pieces:

Nice CNC work although I would have thought that a thick reinforced phenolic plastic plate would have been much better, would totally kill the heat being conducted into your inlet manifold.
