Can I replace my buggered sub with the mid range from a com-
I`ve been hearing some distortion in the speakers on the drivers side, so had a look today. The drivers side sub is buggered (cones all ripped/torn) so I need to replace it. I dont want earth shattering bass and want to keep a sub in its existing enclosure, but I`m struggling to find a 5.25" sub, so was wondering, if I got some 5.25" component speakers, threw away the cross overs and tweeters, and installed the mid range into the sub box, would this work?
Advice apprecited.

I don't know much about sound setups, wiring in amps or crossovers and the like, but the toyota subs come up on ebay from time to time for next to nothing if that helps.

You can but you will halve the power which is only 22watts if I remember correctly as the toyota subs are 2ohm and you will be fitting 4ohm components. There was a big post on it hereWeb Page Namehttp://www.mr2oc.co.uk/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=113534.html

Best to get a separate boxed sub and amp.
OE subs sound terrible. More `bass sound` than true sub bass.
