Difference between rev1 and rev2+ calipers 36T25/30?

Post by Jam »

As above I have a rev1 which needs new calipers but struggling to find some.

I've been offered some that are off a 94 or 95 model and they say on them 36T30 at a guess would these be the bigger calipers rev1 owners upgrade to?

Any help would be great as im on the edge of purchase....

From -- relatively casual -- observation (can't check till tomorrow) you'll need bigger disks to go with the calipers, and bigger wheels to fit over them.

For sure, the later stuff (Rev 3, I think, onwards) is bigger.

If you're around the Pool you're welcome to come and take a peek.

I'm pretty sure the bigger brakes are Rev2 onward. Unsure about needing bigger wheels though but I think (don't quote me) that doing the conversion will require some kind of bracket to mount them on a Rev1.

I dont mind buying bigger discs and I already have 17" wheels.

Just need to know if these 36T30 calipers will fit :s

I'm sure the 36T25 or 36T30 the last two digits are the disc thickness ie 25mm and 30mm.

Confused

I'll grab the calipers and measuring tape tomorrow if you can wait a while.-- I have G, J and P registered cars (a pair of Rev 1s and a Rev 3, I think), so we might end up finding something out. ;)

The later brake calipers are a straight fit to the early cars, you will need the later discs as well

The only modification needed is to trim off the lip on the dust shields,to allow the larger discs to fit ,

And your original space saver wheel (if you still have it ) wont fit

So it is safe to buy these and they'll fit with small modification?
