i topped up the exspansion tank and fitted a new cap today so fingers crossed it should be fine now and when i did change the cap i topped uo the filler neck and it only took 150ml so this seems normal to me now thanks for the help

On an N/A in 7 years I've never heard of a HG go unless the car was overheated for a period of time. Don't worry about it and make sure you are checking the coolant level correctly.
If you think you're losing some it's most likely going to be from the radiator than anywhere else if it's original.
