Thanks guys.
Dropped the subframe tonight so got the alternator sat on it. The copper/brass bush where the bottom pivot bolt goes through disappeared. Spent ages looking for it so gave in defeated. Couldn't see anything in the dark anyway. So frustrating, fed up getting lifts to work.

I bet. Would offer to pop round & lend a hand but I have guests this weekend. Will try and get you some photos of mine when I get back from work, assuming you still need them at that point.

For future reference, on my rev 2 the alternator wouldn't come out so I jacked the engine up a little. Took seconds and worked a treat.

Hopefully in daylight I'll find this missing spacer

Sorted now or do you need those pics? Soaking wet & muddy here so don't really want crawl under the car if you've already fixed it! :)

I'm just going to get changed now and go and tackle it. Found the bush in the daylight but not had any time. Weather is forecast bad tomorrow so I'll have a go now

Soldered on the oval plug.

Had to sand down the alternator to get it to fit, had a lot of paint on its chassis. Got the large pivot bolt through, attached the wiring, went up top and the hole for the tensioner bolt doesn't line up

Cold now, going inside

:annoyed:

Dropped the old alternator out and the new 1 is bigger and won't go between the chassis and subframe :w_tf:
Have you been sent a turbo alternator ? As they are bigger than the na and have a bigger bracket.

blue bracket is na black turbo

Sorry as the na alternator is a smaller diameter and the new one was bigger and wouldn't go in, and then reading the following post and knowing from personal experience of trying to fit a turbo alternator into an na bracket that the tensioner didn't line up
Is it possible your turbo had an na alternator fitted? Have you got the part numbers for the two different alternators to check ?

I chopped the protruding piece off my bracket to make fitting the alternator easier ;)
