Air filter replacement.

Post by M.R.2 »

Hello People,

This may sound a bit simple of me to ask but what needs removing from the engine area to replace the filter as the air box isn't accessible.

Many thanks
Mattt

You can use this guide bud, it's not to show you how to replace the panel filter but it will show you how to get there. If you need anymore help just ask :)

Well apparently they are more free flowing and it has been proven but a lot of people end up buying a induction kit after a panel filter.

Cone filters are for noise... no real power to be made with them. Unless you want induction roar, replacing the panel filter regularly is the best thing to do. Been talking about it this week in this thread: http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/forums/41/160033.html

I always thought the bum dyno told me the stock airbox had a bit more torque than an aftermarket cone filter. Nowhere near as much fun noise wise as a cone filter like an Apexi or a Power Enterprise kit :D

Air intake restrictions can give you more torque

I recommend the stock "Cotton" one that replaced the stock "Paper" one some years ago now.

I hold mine up to the sunlight to check it but 30,000Km appears to be about it and its gone a bit black/grey and clogged up. Compare to a brand new one in the light and there is a big difference.Simply bin it and put in a new one.

I attended a hill climb meeting at Prescott near Winchcomb last year and noticed that in the main ITG and Pipercross air filters were used whilst milling around the free paddock.

Excellent day out.
