Rev Counter Issue

Post by bailey808 »

Hi,

I have got a strange issue with my 91 N/A rev counter. When I turn the car on and start it up, the rev counter will not work. I then turn the car off, unassemble the dash/clocks and then reconnect it all up again. When I start the car once its all back together and it will work! :D I then turn the car off and leave it over night and it will not work again in the morning? :confused1: May I add that the coolant temp gauge is not working either, but I suspect wire corrosion is the cause of this. Everything else is working fine.

Can anyone shine some light onto the cause of this?

Thanks

Mine does that now and again. If I tap the dash a-la WW2 warplanes it wakes up. Its all part of the charm :-)

Thanks for your reply, but I think I found out the issue.

I had recently reset the ECU, but as the car is not taxed I was unable to drive it thoroughly. The dials are all electronic, which suggests the reading for the rev counter might be associated with the ECU. Anyhow, I gave it a good drive and it seems to operate correctly now. (No tapping on the dials like an old WW2 plane).

Anyone else getting this issue, please try this before you do anything stupid.

Thanks
